Sky, a German Shepherd mix came into the canil recently and will be sterilised, microchipped and receive rabies vaccination.

Sky is great with people and rolls on her back for tummy tickles.

Sky is NOT great with other dogs or cats, so must be adopted as only pet in the home.

She is smaller than a full breed German Shepherd.

She needs a home with a secure garden & daily walks.

eddy says that if he gets adopted he may put two ears up instead of just one.

He came into the canil recently from the streets and was initially a little shy but he has gained confidence and is a very friendly little boy who gets on well with other dogs and cats. He can still be a little shy with new people but is soon rolling on his back for tummy tickles. Teddy is a very calm dog who will continue to thrive in a great home. He is currently underweight so needs fattening up a little.

Teddy will be sterilised, microchipped and receive a rabies vaccination and can be adopted in Portugal, the EU and the UK.

This gentle boy finds joy in the simplest experiences and his sweet smile will fill your heart with happiness. He has not had the best start to life and needs someone to love him and show him the life he deserves. He is eager to please and polite, sitting like a good boy even before being asked. His warm gentle manner is a joy to be around and he will bring sunshine to your life.

Raysa came into the municipal canil in October 24 with her sister, Pepa due to their owners poor health. She would love a home with owners who will take her on long walks and provide the training and stimulation for her to thrive. She is friendly with other dogs and affectionate with people.

Simba is a handsome, gentle and friendly boy who gets on with other dogs, loves people and seems OK with cats. He’s good on a lead. He enjoys walks and being outside, so a secure garden and daily exercise would suit him perfectly.

Thor & Freddy (brothers) have been at the canil since 11/21. The two boys were three months old when they came in. They have never had a home and despite being well cared for at the canil, it cannot compare to growing up in a home. They are all very loving, friendly little dogs and deserve wonderful homes to thrive in. The staff at the canil are asking for adopters for these beautiful souls. Salvador is a calm, thoughtful boy who came into the canil in December 2025, after being found on the streets. He’s well-behaved and composed, with a quiet confidence that makes him a lovely presence to have around.

Salvador enjoys sniffing and exploring the world at his own pace – he’s more of an observant companion than a lap dog. He isn’t overly affectionate and doesn’t constantly seek physical contact, so he’d suit someone who values shared space, peaceful walks, and companionship without the need for constant cuddles.

At adoption, Salvador will be: sterilised, vaccinated against rabies and microchipped. He can be adopted in Portugal, the EU and the UK.

Buzz is a bouncy dog with energy that he is unable to release in his kennel. He has been at the canil for a year, far too long for such a handsome and sociable dog. He absolutely loved his walk and would benefit from a family who will provide the exercise, training and stimulation that he needs to thrive. He is very friendly with people and other dogs.

Ava is a beautiful girl who recently came to the canil, found on the streets. She’s great with other dogs and very friendly with people. No cats.

Ava has a lot of energy and enthusiasm and needs to learn to walk on a lead nicely. She needs a secure garden and daily walks with training.

Ava will be sterilised, microchipped and receive a rabies vaccination.

She can be adopted in Portugal, the EU and the UK.

We first posted Spike in September 23 and he has now been at the canil for two years despite being full of joy, friendly and a handsome boy!

Spike loves to go on a walk and behaves impeccably. He would be such a great addition to anyone adopting him. He gets on very well with his kennel mates and we can cat test him if required.

This handsome, wire haired boy was taken from the streets and is now looking for a great home to thrive. He’s a little nervous at the moment, so he will need some support for him to overcome this.

He’s fully grown and quite a small dog.

Roucky greets everyone visiting the canil and if you throw a ball for him, he’ll be your best friend.

He is the friendliest little boy who is full of fun and joy and would bring much happiness to anyone adopting him.

There are many sandy coloured, short-haired podengo-type dogs in the Canil, and it’s been hard for Tejo to make his mark. Sadly he’s been in there since he was 2 months old and when you get to know him it’s so hard to understand why.

Tejo has grown up into an absolute gentleman. He’s friendly but never overwhelming, he has a permanently sunny nature despite what life has thrown at him, and he’s a delight to walk with. He has a placid temperament with a hint of playfulness, and he’s attentive and affectionate. Tejo loves his walks but never pulls. He is not bothered by traffic, cats or other dogs.

As 2024 comes to a close we feel so sad our Tejo is still with us and he would like nothing better than to start the new year with his own human or two to take care of.

Another great dog who has been at the canil for too long, seeks loving home.

Núbia is friendly, playful and would make a wonderful family dog who would enjoy walks and lots of stimulation, with some training. Equally, she would love cuddles and affection, as much as you can give!

She’s good with other dogs and seemed OK with cats, although we can test her again if required.

Ralph is full of fun and energy for a ten year old dog and hopefully has many years ahead of him to enjoy life outside of a kennel and in a loving home.

He has the most beautiful conker brown coat and is quite stunning.

Picolé loves her playtime in the play park at the canil with her kennel mates. She would love a garden to run free in with a family to love her. She’s also very friendly with people.

Picolé has been at the canil for over a year and everyone at the canil would love to see her in a great home.

She’s sterilised, microchipped and will receive a rabies vaccination.

Loquita is a stunning dog! She is a Castro Laboreiro mix. These dogs are renowned for their livestock guardian skills and calm nature and Loquita was extremely calm and great with the roaming cats and other dogs at the canil. They are quite a rare breed, originating from northern Portugal. Apart from their livestock guardian skills, they are also used to protect the women when the husbands are away working. She had lots of attention from the volunteers at the canil and she loved that interaction with people. She has been in the municipal canil in Tomar since March and is ready for adoption as she’s already sterilised, microchipped and has a rabies vaccination. Loquita needs a secure garden and she was also very good on a lead, so would be a pleasure to walk.

We are currently looking for adoption in Portugal only as she’s a big girl to transport and we feel that a rural home would be more suited to her needs.
