Dog Rehoming Portugal, EU and UK is an association registered in Portugal, number 518 796 868. We are a volunteer group that works closely with the municipal canil (kennels) in Tomar, Portugal.

The Municipal Canil in Tomar, Portugal, provides a much needed service for the protection and care of dogs and cats in need of rehoming.

With a non euthanasia program, the canils are often overstretched.

We assist with the wonderful work carried out by the official staff team at the municipal canil.

Dog Rehoming Portugal, EU and UK was developed and founded in 2020. 

We work closely with the canil to arrange foster care, adoptions and support.

We will always work closely and in agreement with the canil staff.

We are a group of volunteers and we rely on the goodwill of people and donations. You can follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

What we do:

• Continue with support and advice after adoptions.

• Provide advice and support to people wanting to adopt or foster a dog from the canil.

• Provide funding for special medical procedures, surgeries and medication. We rely on the donations and fund raisers to be able to do this. We do not receive government funding.

• Organise emergency foster, short and long term foster and arrange adoptions.

• Arrange adoptions outside of Portugal and secure foster care prior to travel.

• Assist with all travel arrangements.

• Organise home checks for adoptions outside of Portugal.

• Assess and photograph the dogs.

• Provide a link to the canil for potential fosterers and adopters.

• Respond to the many enquiries.
