Join Hope’s Journey: From Struggles to Mobility

This is one of our favourite feel good stories so far and it is all about a little dog called Hope.

Hope was found on the roadside after being hit by a car, unable to use her hind legs, until a kind person brought her safely to the municipal canil in Tomar. Despite everything she’d been through, she was still full of sweetness, curiosity, and that unstoppable “I’ve-got-this” sparkle.

We couldn’t leave her to suffer, we had to do something.

There was a company in Setubal, called Dog Locomotion, and these would be able to create a custom set of wheels for Hope.

As you can imagine, 600Euros is a lot of money for any organisation and we did not have the funds, but how could we leave poor Hope to suffer? That was when the ‘Go Gund Me’ was set up. We needed to raise 600Euros, to get her mobile again.

On the 11th December 2025 she was due to go for her first fitting for a custom set of wheels – her very own little mobility trolley! Once she was mobile, she would be able to play, explore, and show potential adopters just how bright and joyful she really is.

Hope travelled to Dog Locomotion for her first consultation and to be measured for her custom-made set of mobility wheels.

She was a very good girl and enjoyed the whole experience. She’s such an absolute darling little girl who loves everyone and the dogs that she meets, big or small.

Her wheels would be completed a month later and then she will be ready for a wonderful adopter to welcome her into their life.

Then on the 6th January 2026, life took a turn for the worse, the vet confirmed that one of her eyes must be removed, and she will be having surgery within the next few days.

Luckily, Hope, being Hope made a great recovery and was all set to get her new wheels, unfortunately we still hadn’t raised enough money. So the team went on overdrive sharing her story every where possible.

Then it happened, the target was hit, we had enough to pay the final instalment. This happened because so many people took a moment to care. Thank you to everyone who shared and supported Hope’s fundraiser.

We also want to recognise the incredible care Hope received from the Municipal Canil in CRO Tomar, whose team went above and beyond for her. A heartfelt thank you to Sónia and her mum for fostering Hope, to Catarina for making the long drive to Setúbal (twice!) so Hope could be fitted for her wheels, and to Dra Susana, who had to make difficult but necessary decisions to ensure Hope’s wellbeing.

A special thank you to Dog Locomotion for creating a spectacular set of swanky wheels.

Because of this collective care, Hope now has mobility, confidence, and a real chance at a fuller life, with a potential adopter on the way.
