Well, where the heck do I start?
Maybe not with that sentence, but hey it may set the scene for the blog in the future.
Who and What are we?
We are Dog Rehoming Portugal, EU and UK and this is the first instalment of our brand-new blog.

As you can imagine, being a group of volunteers working with the municipal cannil in Tomar, Portugal there are so many things to write about, our poorly little tripod puppy, the amazing fundraiser to buy mobility wheels for a disabled dog, the successful adoptions that have happened this month or the fact that we are now, an official association?
The blog will be a real life view of what volunteers do, we will not dress it up and make it a fairy story, we will bring the magic, heartbreak, fun, sadness and love to you in an easy and enjoyable read.
Now my opening sentence makes more sense.
So, I will start with introductions and move on to all the exciting, scary, heart-warming and tearful stories week by week.
The team.
Jackie – The heart and soul of the team, in 2020 after arriving in Tomar, Jackie began volunteering with the cannil and from this, the one woman show began and Dog Rehoming Portugal, EU and UK was born. Initially a Facebook group with Jackie doing most of the work, the team began to expand. Jackie is still the main person dealing with adoptions, fostering, responding to emails, messages and phone calls and being the main link to the cannil staff team (as well as taking care of her many different dogs at home, she really is the dog woman of Tomar!)

Leigh – The David Bailey of the team (am I showing my age here?) Leigh really is a super star with a camera. We have Leigh to thank for all the wonderful photos on the website and social media sites. Though I may have to be careful with my praise, because if she ever realises just how good she is with a camera she may become an official photographer.

Faye – Our boots on the ground in the UK. Faye is responsible for completing home checks on potential adopters in the UKand provides rescue back up. Faye remains an invaluable contact and support for the team and for those adopters in the UK.

Polina – Wow, what a whiz with social media. Polina takes care of the graphics on social media posts and creates fantastic videos. I now finally understand what a video editor is. Polina, along with me, Jenny, will also be responsible for marketing and fundraising.

Jenny – That’s me, I have recently found out that I am the nerd and the ninja of the team. My role is to look after the accounts and the website, so a lot of back-room activity. I will also be working with Polina on the marketing and fundraising, this is where we realised I was a ninja, at our most recent fundraising event, nobody passed the market stall without being pounced on for the tombola and information.

You’ve met the team and if you would like to introduce yourself leave a comment below and I’ll get back to you.
